Antisipasi Peningkatan Status GAK, Peka Lamsel Adakan Rakor
South Lampung (JL): The continuous eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) occurred on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 17.48 WIB, so it is a major concern for the Regional Government. The reason is that as of April 24, 2022, GAK has been in Level III (standby) status.
This is what makes the South Lampung Regency Government and related ranks hold a Coordination Meeting (Rakor) regarding Anticipatory Steps to Increase the Status of Mount Anak Krakatau from Level II (alert) to Level III (alert).
The coordination meeting was chaired by the Head of the South Lampung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Dulkahar, which took place in the Rajabasa Hall, the local Regent’s office, Wednesday (27/4/2022).
Present at the meeting, Expert Staff for Ecobang and Community Affairs Yespi Cory, Head of North Lampung Geophysics Station (BMKG) Anton Sugiharto, Chair of the Anak Krakatau Volcano Observation Post (PGA) South Lampung Andi Suardi, representatives of South Lampung Forkopimda and related ranks.
On that occasion, the Head of BMKG North Lampung, Anton Sugiharto said, BMKG has the authority to observe GAK’s tectonic activity, until now the authority regarding early warning is from the BMKG. If there is a tsunami, the BMKG will issue a tsunami early warning if the eruption or GAK activity occurs.
“For GAK, until now we have not been able to install equipment near GAK, due to the condition of GAK and the surrounding islands there is no signal. Until now, what we have is a measuring device for measuring sea level, which is the closest one in Sebesi. Hopefully within this year or in a few months it can be carried out for the installation of tools, “said Anton Sugiharto.
Anton Sugiharto also added, to anticipate the potential for a tsunami due to increased GAK activity, BMKG together with the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) – the Geological Agency continue to monitor the development of GAK activity and sea level in the Sunda Strait.
“With the increase in the level of GAK activity from level II to level III conveyed by PVMBG – the Geological Agency, the public is asked to be aware of the potential for high waves or tsunamis, especially at night, according to information submitted by BMKG,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Anak Krakatau Volcano Observation Post (PGA) in South Lampung, Andi Suardi, said that since Monday, April 25, 2022, the development of GAK has tended to decline until now, the seismicity has decreased, only gusts from GAK have been detected and there have been no eruptions.
“Kecenderungannya lebih menurun, tapi tetap masih kita pantau, karena rekaman tremornya masih terekam, karena masih ada pergerakan berarti masih ada Lavanya disana, jadi kita masih tetap memantau. Erupsi utama dari GAK, tidak terlalu membahayakan secara langsung, tapi yang kita waspadai erupsi sekundernya seperti abu dan kemaren seperti tsunami, jadi himbauan kita masyarakat tetap tenang dan silahkan beraktivitas dan terutama jangan termakan isu-isu yang kurang baik,” tutur Ketua Pos PGA Anak Krakatau.
Pada kesempatan yang sama, Kepala Pelaksana Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Lampung Selatan, Dulkahar mengungkapkan, Pemerintah Daerah berkewajiban untuk melindungi masyarakat dari potensi dampak bencana, serta melakukan pengurangan risiko bencana yang terjadi.
“On Monday, April 25, 2022, BPBD carried out patrols in the Coastal area of South Lampung to appeal to the public regarding the current situation, as well as distribute masks to the community and April 26, 2022 BPBD with District and Village officials in three sub-districts (Bakauheni, Rajabasa and Kalianda) have checked the evacuation locations and evacuation routes,” said Dulkahar.
He also appealed to the public not to approach GAK within a 5 kilometer radius of the active crater and the community was also asked not to be provoked by irresponsible issues, making sure information only came from the BMKG and local BPBD, he concluded.(fit)
